3. Indications for Use.

Cilostazol is used for the prevention of repeated strokes development. Also it is used for strokes prevention and reduction of thrombogenesis after the procedure in which a thin tube is implanted into coronary vessels in order to provide the necessary opening.

4. Action

Cilostazol interdicts adhesion of thrombocytes, the drug increases the time of bleeding and by that it reduces the likelihood of clots initiation.

5. Posology and Administration

Cilostazol should be taken orally 250 mg each 2 times a day, during or after meal. Maximal daily dose is 1 g (may be administered only during a short period of time). In chronic renal insufficiency a dose reduction is needed. In event of hemodialysis 250-500 mg each – during a long term.

6. Counterindications

Cilostazol is counterindicated to bleeders, in patients with gastric and duodenal disease attack, acute hemorrhagic stroke (acute disorder of brain circulation resulting from brain vessels rupture), liver diseases, pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Before starting treatment a complete survey of blood and general state of the body is needed, also blood composition monitoring is necessary.
Cilostazol administration is recommended to stop two weeks before any surgery, including a dental one.

Cilostazol is counterindicated during pregnancy and in the period of lactation.
