- Indications for Use.
In cases of hypercholesterinemia when there is no effect of a diet therapy, combined hypercholesterinemia and triglyceridemia, ischemic heart disease, preventive measures against myocardial infarction and insult to the brain, atherosclerosis.
- Action
Simvastatin is a substance which favors deflation of cholesterin level in blood.
- Posology and Administration
Posology and administration should be individual. The starting dose is 5-20 mg. If needed - a dose may be increased with a 4-weeks interval. Simvastatin is to be taken once daily in the evening. The maximal dose is 40 mg/daily.
- Counterindications
Hypersensitivity, acute compromised liver function, bad kidney failure, pregnancy, breastfeeding (breastfeeding should be stopped for the period of treatment), childhood.

With caution Simvastatin is used in patients who suffer from liver diseases, chronic alcoholism, arterial hypotension, essential hyposthenia or hypersthenia of skeletal muscles, epilepsy, and bad kidneys failure.

Simvastatin is counterindicated in pregnancy, women who take this drug should stop breastfeeding.
