Piroxicam takes anti-inflammatory, nonnarcotic, antipyretic action and it improves blood flow.

5. Posology and Administration

6. Counterindications

Hypersensitivity, erosive-ulcer lesions of gastrointestinal tract, Aspirine-sensitive Asthma, manifested compromised liver and kidneys functions; hemorrhagic diathesis; proctitis (for the use of suppositories). Pregnancy, breastfeeding, childhood and middle adolescence (solution for injections is used before 18 years of age; gel, ointment, suppositories are used before 14 years of age).

In the period of the treatment it is necessary to monitor blood cell composition, liver and kidneys function. Before the use, also in case if it is a local one, the patients suffering from bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis, with polyps of mucus coating of the nose, chronic obstructive diseases of air passages should consult the doctor.
In the period of treatment alcoholic beverages should not be taken.

On the part of urogenital system: kidneys insufficiency, syndrome of disorder of all kidneys functions.
Others: allergic reactions (itch, flushed skin; edemas, including that of the face and the arms; Stevens-Johnson syndrome, Lyell’s syndrome, very seldom – anaphylactic reactions, bronchial spasms, dread of light, rash), edemas (mostly of lower limbs in compromised heart function patients), perspiration, elevation of urea content, weight loss or weight gain.
Local reactions: irritation of mucus coating of straight intestine, false defecation urges, pain and disagreeable heaviness sensation in anal region (suppositories); in skin marking – irritation, including itch, reddening, rash, burning (in a long-lasting application).

11. Pregnancy and Lactation

In events of pregnancy and breast-feeding the application is contraindicated.
