- Posology and Administration
Pioglitazone is indicated orally, adults should take it once daily regardless of meal. The drug dose should be selected individually. The starting dose of Pioglitazone is 15 mg; if needed it may be increased up to 15–30 mg once daily. A monotherapy maximal daily dose is 45 mg daily, a combined therapy one is 30 mg daily. Insulin combined therapy starting dose of Pioglitazone is 15–30 mg daily; an insulin dose remains the same or decreases by 10–25%.
- Counterindications
Hypersensitivity to any component of Pioglitazone, acute aggravation of sugar diabetes, the period of pregnancy and breastfeeding. Age less than 18 years (safety and efficiency of use in this age group of patients are not determined).

Pioglitazone is counterindicated in pregnancy. During the treatment breastfeeding should be stopped.
