Duodenal ulcer, gastroesophageal reflux, erosive esophagitis, hyperacidity of gastric material when there are Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, constitutional mast cell disease and plural endocrine neoplasia.

Pantoprazole reduces the level of acidity in the stomach; it has a proper anti-microbic activity concerning Helicobacter pylori.

5. Posology and Administration

The drug should be administered strictly individually.
A medium therapeutic dose is 40 mg/daily. The maximal dose is 80 mg/a day. The length of a therapy course is established due to the indications, but it should not exceed 8 weeks.

6. Counterindications

— dyspepsia of neurotic genesis;
— malignant diseases of gastrointestinal tract;
— childhood (due to no data of the use in pediatric practice is available);
— hypersensitivity to Pantoprazole.
With care it should be administered when there is liver failure.

In compromised liver function patients it is recommended to monitor the activity of liver ferments in the blood plasm and in case it increases – withdraw Pantoprazole.

Headache, weakness, dizziness, vision disorder, diarrhea, nausea, pains in the upper part of the stomach, constipation, meteorism, severe liver disease with jaundice, compromised liver function, skin rash, itching, anaphylactic reactions (up to shock), diseased strain of lacteal glands, elevated perspiration.

11. Pregnancy and Lactation

In pregnancy Pantoprazole therapy is possible only on strict indications, the mother’s favor exceeds a potential risk for the fetus. During the treatment breastfeeding should be stopped.
