Treatment and prevention of depressive disorders of various etiology and degree of manifestation, phobic and panic disorders.

- Posology and Administration
Administration of this medication should be done only by a regular doctor and the treatment should be done only under a stringent control.
It is to be taken orally and to be rinsed with a small quantity of water.
Depressions. A recommended starting dose is 50 or 100 mg (one-shot in the evening). It is recommended a gradual increase of a starting dose up to the level of an efficient one. An efficient daily dose which is about 100 mg is selected individually, depending on the reaction of the patient on cure. A daily dose may be up to 300 mg. Daily doses more than150 mg should be divided into several intakes. For the prevention of depression backsets it is recommended to take 100 mg once daily.
Obsessive-compulsive disorders. It is recommended to start from the dose of 50 mg of Fluvoxamine daily during 3–4 days. Efficient daily dose is, as a rule, from 100 to 300 mg. The doses are to be increased gradually up to the attainment of the effective daily dose which should not exceed 300 mg in adults. The doses up to 150 mg may be taken as a single-shot, preferably in the evening. Daily doses more than 150 mg are recommended to be divided into 2 or 3 intakes.
Doses for children more than 8 years of age and teenagers: a starting dose is 25 mg/a day in one intake; a supporting one is 50–200 mg daily. A daily dose should not exceed 200 mg. Daily doses of more than 100 mg are recommended to be divided into 2 or 3 intakes.
When the drug receives a good response the treatment may be continued in an individually chosen daily dose. If an improvement is not reached after 10 of weeks of treatment Fluvoxamine therapy should be cancelled. A selection of a minimal efficient supporting dose should be carried out with caution individually.
The treatment of the patient suffering from liver or kidney failure should be started with the least doses and under a stringent medical control.
Due to the lack of clinical experience Fluvoxamine is not recommended for the treatment of depression in children.
The data having been yielded in the treatment of both young patients and elderly one testify that there is no clinically significant difference between the daily doses that they usually use.
- Counterindications
It is counterindicated to the patients with a well-known hypersensitivity to Fluvoxamine Maleate, or to one of the filling agents, being components of this preparation, likewise to patients with frank disorders of liver functions. Pregnancy and lactation period also make a restriction group. Due to the lack of clinical experience Fluvaxamine is not recommended to use for the treatment of depressions in children less than 8 years of age.

Increase of the drug doses in elderly patients and in teenagers should always be done slower and with great precautions. Liver and kidney failure, convulsions in anamnesis, epilepsy; bleeders – such diseases should be cured only under control of the attending doctor.
During the drug therapy it is not recommended to use alcoholic beverages and other psychotropic agents.

- Overdosing

- Side Effects
Dry mouth, haziness of vision, constipation, drowsiness and difficulties in urination, vomiting and diarrhea, excited state.
