5. Posology and Administration

When there is arterial hypertension it is administered 12.5-50 mg 2-3 times a day. When there is renovascular hypertension it is administered 12.5 mg 3 times/daily. When there is chronic heart failure it is administered 12.5-25 mg 3 times/daily. The maximal daily dose is 150 mg. Captopril is to be taken fasting.

6. Counterindications

The drug should not be taken if there is hypersensitivity to Captopril, if there is liability to edemas, if there is narrowing of renal artery (bilateral and unilateral); after kidney transplantation; if there is narrowing of an aortal valve or a mitral one; likewise in pregnancy and in the period of breastfeeding.

The possibility of the use of Captopril by children is to be determined by the attending doctor. Therapy of patients of more than 65 years of age should be carried out with a special caution. On the part of skin inguments: blush, rash, itching.
Allergic reactions: Stevens-Johnson syndrome, hives, Quincke’s edema, allergic shock etc.
Others: elevation of the body’s temperature, chilly sensation.

11. Pregnancy and Lactation

Before the use of Captopril women of child-bearing age should make a pregnancy test. While Captoptil therapy women should be accurate in following of contraception rules.
