- Posology and Administration
The drug should be taken orally, for adults the starting dose should be 5–10 mg single-shot. Then it should be little by little increased up to the achievement of the desired effect; a usual supporting dose is 20–40 mg, the highest daily dose is 80 mg.
- Counterindications
Hypersensitivity, angioedema, systemic lupus erythematosus, systemic scleroderma, cerebrovascular failure, stenosis of renal arteries, a single kidney, renal graft, compromised function of liver and kidney, bone marrow hypoplasia.
- Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…
Patients who suffer from evidenced compromised kidney function, diabetes, evidenced coronary and cerebral atherosclerosis should use Benazepril with caution.
- Interface with Other Medications
Benazepril is not recommended to take together with other medications without a doctor’s order. Otherwise there may emerge a series of unexpected side effects.
- Overdosing
There are no data on overdosage. It is likely that in cases of overdosage the manifestation of side effects will be enhanced significantly.
- Side Effects
Hypotension, dry cough, furring on the tongue, tonsils and throat, pain in breast, arrhythmia, light tremor of limbs and lips, hyperirritability, labored respiration, attack of pancreatitis, allergic reactions (cutaneous eruptions, pain in joints, angioedema).
- Pregnancy and Lactation
Benazepril is counterindicated for the use in pregnancy. The use of Benazepril in the period of lactation (breastfeeding) is not recommended.
