- Indications for Use.
The most important action of Differin is in the destruction of comedones and the liberation of the ducts of oil glands. The performance of Differin results in a free outflow of skin oil from the gland and, as a consequence, a quantity of bacteria in oil glands decreases. Differin normalizes the output of skin oil and charms away skin inflammation.
- Action
A frank anti-inflammatory performance of Differin has been proved. The drug also has a frank comedolythic activity (reacts upon open and closed comedones), normalizes the processes of keratinization and epidermal differentiation.
- Posology and Administration
The drug is used once daily in the evening;
the drug is applied evenly on all the face, not only on the locuses with acne (comedones and pustules);
auxiliary drugs for external treatment of acne are used in the morning or several hours before the application of Differin;
do not discontinue a protracted treatment of Differin, and it is necessary to follow all the recommendations of your dermatologist;
use the cosmetics that do not provoke and do not enhance acne, or the ones recommended by your doctor.
The duration of Differin therapy is to be determined by your dermatologist in relation to the form of acne. Usually the performance of Differin is being developed after 3-6 weeks of treatment, but a sustainable and long-lasting improvement, as a rule, comes after 3 months of treatment. After a sustainable improvement has come or after the end of the general course of treatment of any forms of acne, Differin is used for a supporting treatment for a long time (several months).
- Counterindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. Differin should be used with caution in eczema, dermatitis and seborrhea.

In using Differin caution should be taken – its entering on the eyes and on the lips should be avoided. In occasional entering of the drug on the mucosae of the eyes, mouth or nose you should thoroughly rinse them with warm water.
If the skin is irritated you should stop the use up to the disappearance of the signs of irritation.
Avoid direct sun rays and UV-irradiation, as a light skin irritation may appear. The treatment may be continued if the sun exposure is reduced to the minimum.
As all the retinoids Adapalene may affect teratogenically if it is taken orally.
It is not recommended to use cosmetics with predrying or irritating performance on the skin (for instance, scents-containing or that of alcohol products) together with the drug.
Differin applied on the skin in the evening may be combined with the drugs for the treatment of pimples, which are applied in the morning, for instance, a 4% lotion of erthyromycin or a 1% lotion of clindamycin, benzoyl peroxide on water base in the concentration not exceeding 10%.
It is also possible to use simultaneously the make up preparations and moisturizers which do not provoke the appearance of comedones.

Do not use irritating creams in the process of Differin therapy.

Local reactions: in excessive application of Differin redness and peeling of the skin may appear.
- Pregnancy and Lactation
Differin is not recommended to be applied in pregnancy and in lactation period (breastfeeding).
