Carisoprodol
- Indications for Use.
• Carisoprodol is used alongside with relax and physiotherapy for the treatment of lesions and other muscle injuries.

- Action.
Carisoprodol is a muscle relaxant. Its action is conditioned by a blocking of the nervous impulses (or pain feeling), sent to the brain.

- Posology and Administration.
Take Carisoprodol in exact compliance with recommendations of your doctor. In order to clarify the indications ask your doctor or pharmacist.
• Each dose should be rinsed with a full glass of water.
• Maximal 24 hours dose of Karisopodol is 1,400 mg (4 tablets).
- Counterindications.
• Do not take Karisopodol if you have an acute intermittent porphyria.
• Before you start to take the drug tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease. You may need a reduced dose of the drug or a specific monitoring in the course of treatment.
• Carisoprodol is not recommended for children under 12 years old.
- Should Be Taken with Caution If…
Caution is needed if you take alcoholic beverages. Alcohol may enhance sleepiness and dizziness provoked by Carisoprodol .
- Interface with other medications.
• Many medications may enhance the action of Carisoprodol , which may provoke a strong sedative performance. Before you start a course of treatment, inform your doctor if you take some of the below mentioned medications:
• antihistamine drugs, such as brompherine (Dimetane, Bromfed, others), chlorpheniramine (Chlor-Trimeton, Teldrin, others), asatadin (Optimine), clemastine (Tavist) and many others;
• narcotic remedies (pain reliefs), such as meperedine (Demerol), morphine (MS Contin, MSIR, others), propoxiphene (Darvon, Darvocet), hydrocodone (Lorcet, Vicodin), oxicodone (Percocet, Percodan), phentanyl (Duragesic) and codein (Fiorinal, Fioricet, Tylenol No.3, others);
• sedative drugs such as phenobarbital (Solfoton, Luminal), amobarbital (Amytal) and secobarbital (Seconal);
• phenotiazines, such as chlorpromazine (Thorazine), fluphenazine (Prolixin), mezoridaxine (Serentil), perfenazin (Trilafon), proclorpemazine (Compazine), tioridazine (Mellaril) and trifluoperazine (Stelazine); or
• antidepressants such as doxepin (Sinequan), imipramint (Tofranil), nortriptyline (Pamelor), fluoxetine (Prozac), paroxetine (Paxil), certralin (Zoloft), phenelzin (Nardil) and tranilcipromin (Parnate).
• Carisoprodol may interact with other drugs not mentioned in this instruction. While taking other prescribed medicines, likewise the medicines sold without prescription, consult your doctor.
- Overdosing.
Overdosing of Carisoprodol manifests with low blood tension (weakness, tiredness, mental confusion), weak breath and faintness.

- Side Effects.
Stop to use the drug immediately and call a doctor if you experience the following serious side effects:
• allergic reactions (tightness of the chest; diminution of airways; hydrops of lips, language, face or rash);
• paralisis (loss of sensitivity) or extreme weakness;
• loss of vision; or
• agitation or tremor.
• Less serious side effects are likely to arise. Go on to take the drug and tell your doctor if you have
• sleepiness or dizziness;
• headache;
• depression;
• blurred vision;
• insomnia; or
• hiccup.
• Other side effects not described in this instruction. You should tell your doctor about any unusual side effects especially about those which disturb you.
- Pregnancy and Lactation.
• It is not known whether the drug could be harmful to fetus. Do not take Karisprodol without consulting your doctor if you are pregnant.
• It is not known whether Carisoprodol might pass into breast milk. If you are breastfeeding do not take the drug without consulting your doctor.
- Driving.
It is necessary to be careful while driving, working with industrial equipment or while doing some other work that requires alertness. Carisoprodol may provoke dizziness or sleepiness. If you have such a state, avoid hazardous activity.
