3. Indications for Use.

The infectious inflammatory diseases of upper and lower parts of respiratory tracts in adults and adolescents, provoked by the microorganisms sensitive to the drug; which include: tonsillitis, pharyngitis, acute sinusitis; acute bronchitis, pneumonia, aggravation of chronic pneumonia (especially in people who drink alcohol to excess, in tobacco users and in people over 65 years of age).

Semisynthetic antibiotic from the group. The drug performs bactericidally. Cefpodoxime is pluripotential. The drug is active against many gram-positive and gram-negative, aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms.

5. Posology and Administration

Posology and administration is to be set up individually. The drug should be taken orally with food twice a day with an interval of 12 hours, an average daily dose is 200 mg – in pharyngitis, tonsillitis, uncomplicated infection of urine tract during 7-10 days; 400 mg – in pneumonia, aggravation of bronchitis during 10-14 days, uncomplicated gonorrhea – one time -  200 mg; skin and soft tissues infections - 800 mg/daily during 7-14 days. In children from 5 months to 12 years of age suffering from otitis media - 10 mg/kg in 2 intakes during 10 days, the maximal dose is 400 mg/daily; in tonsillitis, pharyngitis - 10 mg/kg in 2 intakes, the maximal dose is 200 mg/daily.

6. Counterindications

Hypersensitivity to Cefpodoxime, chronic inflammatory bowel diseases, kidney failure. Pregnancy, breastfeeding period.

7. Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…

Allergic reactions: skin rash, itching, hives, angioedema, fiver, shock allergic reaction. On the part of nervous system: dizziness, headaches, irritability, undue fatigability, insomnia, “nightmare” dreams. On the part of urogenital system: disorders of menstrual cycle. On the part of intestinal system: nausea, diarrhea, stool retention, gastritis, vomiting, pain in the stomach, dysbacteriosis (growth of Clostridium difficile), salivation, abdominal distension, decrease of appetite. On the part of respiratory system: cough. On the part of cardio-vascular system: decrease of arterial tension.
Others: disorder of blood formation, chest pain, excessive sweating, weakness.

9. Overdosing

While overdosing considerable increase of manifestations of side effects are the most likely events.
