- Indications for Use.
Nizoral is used for the treatment and prevention of the mycotic diseases, provoked by the microorganisms vulnerable to this drug:
– infections of mucous coats of intestinal coat;
– chronic recurrent vaginal candidiasis in cases when local therapy is not efficient;
– frank damages of skin and nails;
– constitutional mycotic diseases;
– prevention of mycotic lesions in debilitated patients.

- Posology and Administration
The treatment is to be continued during several days after the disappearance of all the symptoms of the disease. If there is no effect after 4 days of treatment the diagnosis is to be verified. Often there are observed backsets due to an incomplete cure.
Adults are administered orally 200 mg daily. The treatment duration in dermatomycosis is about 4 weeks; in chromophytosis - 10 days; in onychomycosis - 6-12 months (up to clinical and mycological improvement); in candidiasis of the mouth cavity and the skin - 2-3 weeks; in constitutional mycotic diseases - 1-2 мес. If against the dose of 200 mg/daily of the drug intake no substantial improvement has been notices, the daily dose should be increased up to 400 mg.
In vaginal candidiasis the daily dose is 400 mg; the therapy duration is 5 days.
For children with the body mass from 15 to 30 kg the daily dose is 100 mg; in children with the body mass over 30 kg there will be administered the doses as for adults.
For the prevention of mycotic lesions in adults 400 mg daily are to be administered; in children a dose is to be calculated on the basis of 4-8 mg/kg of the body mass in 24 hours. The duration of the course is determined by a clinical situation.
Nizoral tablets are taken during meal.
Sour drinks exceed the absorption of ketokonazole.
- Counterindications
- frank distortions of the function of liver and kidneys;
- hypersensitivity to the drug;
- pregnancy;
- lactation.
